“More Isn’t Better. Better is Better.”

Dr. Perry Nickleston from @stopchasingpain has one of my favorite quotes when I’m struggling to begin where I begin. “More isn’t better. Better is better.” What does he mean by that? Think about all the things you’re currently doing to feel better in your body. Does it stress you out to try to “fit it all in”? Is it possible that you’re causing more inflammation by adding in more methods that your body simply cannot handle when it’s depleted?

We can’t answer that for you. That’s your Performance Lab. Your body is your experiment. No one is experiencing the sensations that you are. We are not receiving the exact same signals because our stories of meaning and experiences influence those sensations.

But we don’t need to get into the weeds on that. If you’re doing a lot to try to feel better–pause. Maybe more is not what you need right now. Maybe feeling better trumps doing more.

In the following video we’re going to take inventory on the things we’re doing trying to hack our health. When you’re able to begin where you begin, approaching what you need to feel better gets simpler with practice. Seeing when you’re doing too much becomes obvious. We will begin with the awareness of all the things we are currently doing. And then asking ourselves what it is one priority that we need right now.

We challenge you to work on one thing, not more things. Your body is wise and beautiful. Maybe we can be kinder to ourselves as we all find new edges?
