The Nose Knows

Your nose is pretty incredible. It is associated with our first sense, the sense of smell. Which helps us to discern between nutritious foods and foods that have spoiled. It is also your body's preferred organ for breathing.

Your nose is involved in many tasks, not just smell and breathing. It is your own personal HVAC and filters out bacteria and debris before entering your lungs. It even ensures that your lungs are climate controlled by preparing the air from the outside for your lungs placed inside of you.

Another way your body fulfills its many needs. All by itself. However, like our posture, when we create patterns or habits, your body is so wise that it won’t stop you from participating in habits that are not good for you. It will simply compensate, even if less efficient, to give you what it needs.

If you start to help your body fulfill its needs so it doesn’t need to work so hard to function, you have found yourself on the path to true recovery. Cycling through burnout tends to occur from all of us assuming it means we need to push harder.

Watch the following short video and help build an awareness to whether you’re using your mouth, chest, nose, neck, and/or ribs to breathe. You begin where you begin.

For a more in-depth way to recover from burnout and perform at your best, join our yearly course The Magic of Mistakes: Your Performance Lab or join us for daily practices in the Waffle Membership.
